curl types

One of the most important tasks girls with curls have is to identify their curl type. Do you have wavy hair, curly hair, tight curls or kinky curls? From there, it is easy to determine what type of product you will need to accommodate your curls.

Wavy Hair

Wavy hair is in between straight and curly. It has more body than straight hair and it can hold styles better as well. Wavy hair can also have the frizz that curly hair has. Tousled waves are a popular fashion trend that are seen on many celebrities. They can be achieved on other hair types with the right hair products and tools.

Curly Hair

Curly hair has a ringlet effect. This hair type is also dryer and more prone to frizz. The best haircut for this hair type is a layered cut. The beauty of curly hair is that you have the best of both worlds. Curly hair can be worn straight with the right hair products and tools.

Tight Curls

Tight curls are typically a combination of ringlets and S shaped curls. They are commonly found with fine hair. This hair type is even dryer than curly hair and prone to even more frizz. Tight curls require more moisture and also look best with a layered cut to avoid the triangle look. Avoid haircuts with a razor cutter as they may cause more breakage.

Kinky Curls

Kinky curls resemble a S shape as well as a crimped look (like a crinkle cut french fry). This hair type can be fine or extremely coarse. Kinky curls are also very dry and delicate. This hair type is very frizzy and require extreme moisture. Like tight curls, kinky curls look best with layers and shrink when cut.
