Recently, I was introduced to a new subscription box called Cocotique that is designed for women of color and diverse ethnicities. Cocotique’s beauty box includes 5-8 deluxe size samples that cater to your beauty and lifestyle needs.

My first box has been quite impressive. I’m a sucker for packaging, especially how this box was crafted. It wasn’t flimsy, very firm and secure. It had a beautiful espresso gloss finish and a gold ribbon. Inside the box included a product information card that includes a list of what’s inside, along with the prices and exclusive discount codes. June’s box included these 7 items:

BADGER Tea Tree & Lemon Balm Herbal Lip Care

Nothing got me more excited than seeing this lip balm. I’ve heard of Badger products for a while and have never had the chance to try anything…until now! This lip balm is USDA certified organic free of parabens, GMO’s and harsh chemicals. It’s also made from 30% Fair Trade Certified™ cocoa butter. It contains tea tree, lemon balm, peppermint and menthol crystals. The size of the twist-up stick is also larger than your average lip balm. Lastly, it feels amazing on the lips and has an all natural lemon mint scent.

Beauty Pin Ups MPB

BEAUTY & PIN UPS Luxe Leave-In Spray On Revitalizing Conditioner

This was an unfamiliar brand to me but I’m always open to trying new things. I’m a big fan of spray form leave-in conditioners, so that was definitely a plus. It contains coconut oil and chufa milk and protects your hair from harmful UV rays. The formula was nice and had slip but unfortunately, the fragrance was too strong for my liking.

Creme of Nature MPB

CREME OF NATURE Perfect Edges Extra Hold

This non-flaking extra hold edge gel is infused with argan oil and provides shine. This was in rotation in my house last year so it’s nice to see a familiar brand in this box. It definitely does wonders on my edges and works for relaxed and natural hair. However, it does contain parabens which I try to stay away from if possible.

Naked Beaute MPB

NAKED BEAUTE Moisturizing Shaving Soap

This was another exciting surprise. I have never in my life tried a shaving soap and it sounds like a genius idea. The key ingredients are argan oil (moisturizing), oat protein (soothing), wheat protein (nourishing), and bentonite clay (detoxifying). Although I haven’t had the chance to try this yet, it made me happy that the ingredients are all natural so it’s staying right in my shower.

Orgazmic MPB

It was perfect timing to receive a new mascara because I’m out…and this one sounds promising! It contains a unique Bio-infused, Pelvetia extract formula that promotes growth while conditioning your lashes. Yes, please! It also has a large volumizing brush that helps thicken the lash, with bristles that apply the formula smooth. My sensitive eyes definitely appreciate that it’s fragrance-free.  And they don’t do animal testing!

Ultra Sheen MPB

This styling lotion contains jojoba, castor and cocoa oil, aloe vera, mango and shea butter. It can be used on dry relaxed hair to perfect styles and on natural hair for perm rod sets and Bantu knots. Although it contains a few ingredients I don’t normally use, the fragrance was softer and enjoyable. I’ve never tried this brand before so I’m interested to see how it will work in a perm rod set.

Shea Moisture MPB

SHEA MOISTURE Superfruit Complex Bubble Bath & Body Wash/Massage Oil Duo

My bonus product was the Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Bubble Bath & Body Wash/Massage Oil Duo. I haven’t tried this line from them yet so I’m interested to see how this works on my skin. This will be perfect for my toiletry bag when I travel.

The Cocotique subscription is a great concept for women of color that want beauty items catered to fit their needs. I was impressed the quality of the packaging, size and amount of samples, skin care, and makeup items. I would love to see more natural hair brands with organic ingredients in their future boxes. Looking forward to seeing what will come next! Visit Cocotique to subscribe and use the code BOX10 for 10% off your first box.
